A brand-new opportunity for an ambitious Automation Systems Engineer to join an exciting Cambridge based spin out organisation. The company is developing high-tech/low-volume, bespoke scientific laboratory automation equipment which is set to revolutionise the Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology markets. With a queue of clients and a stack of ‘off-plan’ pre-orders for the systems, this technology and company is set to evolve -and grow, rapidly. The Automation Systems Engineer will contribute to the product development team by identifying, evaluating and implementing highly innovative new technologies in laboratory automation.

The automation projects will involve handling and processing of biology cell cultures and consumables, together with overall equipment process control. The individual will need to be experienced in the biotechnology systems and automation field and have a background in product development. You will deal with both internal and external design resources to develop and implement these new technologies, keeping the company’s products at the very forefront of the market.

Requirements for Automation Systems Engineer - Biotechnology

* Minimum BEng/MEng/BSc degree in Science or Engineering discipline e.g. (Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Physics, Systems Engineering, etc) or equivalent

* At least 3 years in biotechnology laboratory automation (ideally including cell culture systems)
* Experience in process control or automation
* Understanding of manufacturing principles beneficial
* Experience of using an MRP system (SAP an advantage) beneficial
* Ability to travel occasionally (UK and internationally) to visit suppliers and customer sites.

Job Location: Cambridgeshire (Commutable from: Cambridge, Bedford, Huntingdon, St Neots, Peterborough, etc)

Salary: £45k - £55k + excellent benefits and career progression opportunities.
