Maintenance Team Leader (Shifts) Gravesend, Kent

£41,500k + generous overtime + benefits

Our client specialise in the design, development and implementation of automated materials handling solutions for supply throughout the UK and Europe, and as a result of an ongoing success and an aggressive programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Shift Maintenance Team leader to support the suite manager in the delivery of all engineering service KPI’s within a busy automated warehouse and distribution centre environment.

Based near Gravesend and working on a typical shift basis of 6am to 6pm (2 days), 6pm to 6am (2 days) then four days off, the successful maintenance team leader candidate will be responsible for the day to day supervision of a multidiscipline engineering team of five, ensuring the delivery of key service elements such as PPM, fault rectification and fault eradication and delivering written and verbal communications at all levels and fully interacting with the customer on a day to day basis.

Tasked with driving continuous improvement on site with your team and supporting a site budget of around £750k , you will liaise with other engineering line managers to ensure consistency and best practice whilst complying with Health and Safety legislation and working within H&S guidelines and processes and conducting regular H&S audits of processes and equipment when required.

Qualified to HND level or above in a relevant engineering discipline or able to demonstrate at least 3 years previous experience in a maintenance supervisor capacity, you will possess comprehensive H&S experience and excellent IT and communication skills (both verbal and written) to ensure effective liaison with both internal and external customers and suppliers.

Additionally you will possess essential diplomatic skills, as all decisions made on site are done so with the customer in mind and ensuring they receive a world class customer service, so you will embrace the team culture endorsed by their customer and effectively be able to analyse under high pressure and difficult situations and resolve issues accordingly. You will be able to understand team’s strengths and weakness and through coaching and mentoring, maximise your team’s performance whilst always striving for excellence and best practice in all tasks that are undertaken.

To be considered for this varied and challenging maintenance team leader role, you will demonstrate proven experience gained within an automation or distribution centre environment and at least three years experience of supervising maintenance teams as well as excellent man / team management abilities and all round engineering skills in both Electrical and Mechanical disciplines, and be able to undertake technical fault finding to component failure level and repair whilst coordinating the activities of a busy team and both implementing and sustaining a continuous improvement culture.
