Job Title: CAD Operator

Location: Moulton Park, Northampton

Salary: £18,000 - £23,000 + Private medical cover and 4% pension contribution

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

The Company is one of the UK’s largest and respected independent Building Management Systems provider, they have been at the forefront of BMS installation and maintenance since 1983, having grown organically over the last 30+ years they have consistently supported the industry in delivering the highest quality for their customers.

The Role:

A position has become available in their projects team for a CAD operator, the role is to produce 2D electrical wiring diagrams for control panels in CAD / Solidworks Electrical format based upon drafts put together by their engineers, some previous electrical experience would be an advantage although not absolutely essential as they will provide training accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

* To create drawings based on the specifications provided by Project Engineers, you will receive drafts from the Project Engineers, and then be required to translate them onto the CAD/Solidworks software
* Use electrical industry notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings
* Maintain notation and symbol data base to ensure accurate selection of components used, all notations and symbols are to identify electrical terminations
* Accurately label component sizing in line with instructions from Project Engineers
* Ensure accurate cross-referencing of electrical connections between drawing pages
* Revise drawings based on instructions from Project Engineers
* Maintain company CAD standards
* Store drawings electronically for later use
* Ensure PDF versions of drawings are stored in associated Project Document Folders on the Company server

General Administration & Ad hoc duties

* Maintain good lines of communication with other departments and divisions
* Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities
* Gather and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company standards
* Ensure compliance with Company Procedures and Policies

* Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness
* Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organisation

To be successful in this role, you will have/be:


* AutoCAD/Solidworks user
* Fluent with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
* Ability to produce drawings and collate supporting documentation to deadlines and tight timescales
* An aptitude for interpreting hand drawings
* Self-motivation
* Detail oriented
* Punctuality
* Good Time Management
* Strong written/verbal communications
* Comfortable working as part of a team and/or strong leadership
* Ability to work under pressure


* 3 years detailing experience
* Electrical Engineering knowledge
* Previous experience in CAD drafting
* Knowledge of drafting software for creating 2D computer drawings
