Are you a Senior Safety Case Engineer with a track record of leading teams in the production of safety case assessments for nuclear or other high hazard plant and operations?

Could you lead a team of Safety Case Engineers to support the production of safety cases for current and future fusion facilities at the UKAEA?

Can you contribute to implementing modern best practice safety assessment methodologies? If so, we would like to hear from you.

We are seeking three Senior Safety Case Engineers to lead and manage the production of safety cases and supporting technical reports, largely for radiological hazards. You`ll be implementing a proportionate approach to safety case development, and contributing to the improvement of our systems, people and processes.

You will contribute to, and be responsible for, the production and maintenance of a portfolio of safety cases, ensuring these are prepared with usability in mind. This role will be responsible for the delivery of our nuclear new build safety case programme called STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production). You will also use your expertise to support other relevant work programmes within the broader fusion communities.

Other areas of responsibility will include:

- Leading a team of Safety Case Engineers and being responsible for a budget of £100,000
- Leading on the production and management of safety cases including carrying out deterministic safety analysis/probabilistic safety assessment
- Working with a range of stakeholders to obtain information relevant to the safety case, and produce technical reports in support of the safety cases
- Contributing to, and carrying out, the assessment of safety case modifications, reviewing the existing safety case and determining whether the safety limits are being challenged
- Contributing to ensuring modern best practice safety case methodologies and technologies are followed

At UKAEA, we strive to make everyone feel welcome and fully supported. We welcome applications from under-represented groups, particularly from individuals from black and other ethnic minority backgrounds, including nationality and citizenship, people with disabilities, (visible and hidden) and women.
