We are a growing science & technology company based at Harwell in Oxfordshire with an exciting future. We are looking for a motivated self-starter to support the production, test, installation and service of our FTIR spectrometers.

Production / Mechanical / Systems Engineer – FTIR Spectroscopy
Harwell Oxford | £35,000 – £45,000 + Benefits

This is also an exciting opportunity to lay the foundations of an effective service function as we ramp up shipments. You will enjoy being on the road and, when things return to normal, will spend significant time travelling to customers, possibly anywhere in the world.

You will be the main technical interface between our customers and our team. The role primarily involves designing mechanical interfaces, system testing, installation and service of the product. However, we have adopted the Agile Framework. This means that you will be encouraged to learn a broad range of skills and to employ them as needed by the business. Your proactive approach, team spirit and eagerness to continuously improve are what will ultimately drive our success. Key Responsibilities:

+ Technical support of installs from initial enquiry through the design of bespoke interfaces, product installation & test and on to field service including routine maintenance
+ Providing the highest level of frontline support to our customers
+ Training customers in the safe use of our products
+ Developing service manuals and procedures
+ Training our distributors to provide frontline customer support
+ Producing timely and accurate feedback to the team including potential sales leads

Qualifications, skills & aptitudes needed to succeed:

+ Driving license
+ Typically requires a BSc or MSc degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline or other applicable experience in a high-tech environment
+ Skills in IT, analytical troubleshooting and problem solving
+ Excellent English, both verbal and written
+ Independent, service-minded and educational in approach
+ Highly organized and on top of things, especially under pressure in the field
+ Strong team player but happy to work alone and remotely
+ Commercially minded
+ Experience of installing complex equipment in chemical plants would be advantageous
+ Knowledge of FTIR spectroscopy, 3D-CAD software and TCP/IP networking including standard plant communication protocols, e.g. analogue, profibus, modbus, OPC would be an advantage but is not required

You may have worked in the following capacities:
Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Systems Engineering, Spectroscopy Engineering.
