The role:

To support these activities they are looking for System Design Engineer who will work on the following:

* Systems design, and more detailed electrical designs, mainly for the marine industry
* Project management, including attending meetings, and carrying out site visits
* Working on quotations and proposals, either leading, or as part of a group
* Dealing with suppliers, clients, and end users
* Commissioning systems in the UK, and sometimes internationally
* Maintaining professionalism and representing the company in a positive manner

Some work will be modifications to existing systems, but the majority will be clean sheet designs so the work will be varied, interesting and challenging.

You will report to the Engineering Manager and work as part of a small team of electrical, mechanical and control engineers. They’re looking for a conscientious, organised individual capable of structuring their work schedule effectively and delivering projects on time and to brief.

Applicants should be skilled with AutoCAD LT software as a minimum, but experience with other electrical packages would be a good addition. Familiarity with at least some of the following standards would be expected:

* IEC 61439
* BS 7671
* Any marine classification standards (DNV GL, RINA, Lloyds etc.)

You’ll be expected to have a hands on approach when necessary, supporting panel builders and test engineers to troubleshoot systems both in their premises, and in the field if required.

Academic background could be an electrical or related engineering degree, or a lower qualification with evidence of experience and further training. Any project management qualifications would be beneficial.

Ideally you will have a full clean UK Driving licence.
