Job Title: Buyer & Materials Planner

Location: Newhaven

Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 (Pro-Rata)

Job type: 6 Months maternity cover contract

Brightwell Dispensers Ltd is a global designer and manufacturer of innovative soap, paper and chemical dispensers and dosing systems.

Created in 1947, the company has a strong reputation as a reliable provider and partner for paper and chemicals manufacturers, janitorial companies, dishwasher and washing machines providers and international corporations.

The Role

To assist the existing Buyer & Materials Planner and Purchasing Manager in procurement of all materials required for the Brightwell Group of businesses. This hands-on role will involve daily interaction with internal customers and external suppliers. The main purpose of the role will be to assist in the management of stock and to keep the inventory at an acceptable level whilst restricting the commitment of scheduled orders with current suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

* Recommend stock order requirements based on market trends and daily review of stock holdings, taking full ownership of stock management.
* Accurately enter purchase orders, ensuring on-time and cost effective delivery.
* Monitor and maintain inventory parameters consistent with inventory management guidelines.
* Management of JIT contracts to support Kanban manufacturing whilst proactively reducing inventory.
* Call off committed stock for required delivery and chase overdue deliveries.
* Promote and maintain good vendor relationships with new and existing suppliers.
* Assist with the development and management of the supplier base to meet production target deadlines in order to maximise efficiency and productivity.
* Ensure data held on the Company’s ERP system is accurate and up to date.
* Oversee the logistical control of parts requiring a sub-contract process.
* Investigate and resolve invoice queries with the Accounts Dept.
* Manage and order stationary for all Departments within the companies.
* Demonstrate strong expediting skills and communications skills.
* Remain composed under pressure whilst adhering to strict deadlines.
* Assisting with ad hoc projects as required by the Buyer & Materials Planner and Purchasing Manager.

The Candidate:

* Good grades in Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent level
* 3 years+ experience in a purchasing role
* Good time management/organisational skills
* Working to deadlines
* Able to work on own initiative
* Experience in electronics purchasing
* Manufacturing experience
* Experience using ERP System (Syspro etc)
* Excellent communication skills
