Whatever the weather, our client’s equipment and lifeboat crew need to operate to the very highest possible technical standards - it’ll be up to you to ensure this.
Primarily working from their support centre in Ballymoney, but also working around the coast in support of our client’s lifeguards and lifeboats, they are now looking for a Systems Technician to join their team. This is an ideal opportunity to use your mechanical / electrical skills working on state-of-the-art Lifeboats, Lifeguarding and associated launching equipment.
You will be part of a team working closely with Station Mechanics, Contractors and other Technical staff carrying out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and defect repairs.
The role as a Systems Technician requires a minimum (Level 6 on the National Qualification framework) or working towards this. You will ideally have an NVQ, City and Guilds or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline, ideally with knowledge of petrol or high-speed diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electronic control systems and the use of electronic diagnostic equipment. You must have completed a time-served apprenticeship in marine or vehicle-based engineering.
This role is suitable for someone that is self-motivated and willing to go that extra mile, working either as a part of a team or under their own initiative to the highest of standards with a first fix approach to return our client’s assets back on service as soon as possible. The candidate will need to take on new ideas and undertake training.
Towing License preferred – but training can be given if necessary. As this is a field-based role, you will be required to travel extensively throughout Ireland and occasionally to other areas of the United Kingdom.
You will need to hold a full valid driving licence (HGV desirable), plus the willingness and flexibility to work out of hours when the need arises and also take part on an on-call rota basis.
