UKAEA is looking for a self-motivated Technical Author / writer  with good communication and stakeholder management skills to join the Quality Group who have the opportunity to work across a multi-faceted organisation. The successful candidate will work independently with minimal work direction and will show a positive and proactive approach. They will have the opportunity to undertake activity in support of the many UKAEA facilities, each with their unique scientific and engineering challenges.

Job Description

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Business System Technical Author / Procedure Writer with a broad range of coordination and technical writing skills to author and edit and proofread a range of technical documentation in collaboration with experts.

During this Fixed Term Appointment (12 months FTA), as a valued member of the team, you will ensure that documents are compliant with UKAEA and industry standards and are user friendly and consistent, in the correct format and with the right information. Excellent ability with editing and adjusting content based on feedback from stakeholders. Experience with Quality Management System (QMS) and ability to create a range of documentation are key factors to be successful in this role.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Business System Technical Writer / Author you will be reporting to the Quality Manager and you will be responsible for:

- Writing and reviewing operational documentation, including but not limited to procedures, department instruction, work instructions, guides and forms

- Supporting the on-going development of the UKAEA business management system

- Co-ordinating documentation across the organisation and supporting various stakeholders

- Supporting the audit process of the central management system


Essential qualification, skills, experience and competence required

- HNC/HND, City and Guilds, or equivalent, in an IT or business discipline

- Extensive experience of technical writing

- Worked in a quality driven environment and regulated industry

- Experience of certificated Management Systems including: ISO9001:2015; ISO45001:2018; ISO14001:2015

- Extensive experience of document management systems

Desirable skills, experience and competence

Advanced understanding and extensive use of the Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
