Job Description

Who are we looking for?

 

As a successful Senior Process Engineer, you will have an opportunity to lead process design work on major fusion sub-systems, from concept through to detailed design. You will be experienced in performing engineering calculations to support design decisions. This role will allow you to manage projects for development and investigation of fusion technologies as well as produce technical reports and ensure adherence to design standards.

 

If you have an analytical and innovative thought process with the ability to work with uncertainties and to take your initiative in addition to a relevant engineering degree or equivalent, we would like to hear from you.

 

What will you be responsible for?

 

Drafting and reviewing process diagrams (PFDs & P&IDs)

Leading process plant modelling, calculations and design

Interfacing with key stakeholders, adjacent workstreams and external partners

Leading safety and technical risk assessments

Innovating fusion power plant design

Supervising junior engineers and students

 

As part of this role, you could be asked to manage staff (e.g. on-site contractors, department technicians, engineers) as well as supervising the training and development of junior group members.

 

Qualifications

Essential skills, experience and competence required

 

A relevant engineering degree or equivalent

Ability to perform exploratory design calculations using first principles

Proven capability in process engineering analysis and design

Leading projects and specific work packages

Good communication and technical writing skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Attained or actively working towards Chartered status with a suitable professional institution

 

Desirable skills, experience and competence

 

Experience in design or operation of commercial power plants and or thermal to electric conversion systems

Leading teams and supervising other staff

Experience with concept designs

Experience with system engineering practices

Nuclear industry experience
