Who are we looking for?

 

We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer to successfully lead and manage complex packages of high and low voltage electrical engineering work from concept through to completion. A great opportunity to be part of a collaborative team working on bespoke equipment, you will lead designs on implementing fusion supporting equipment. You will have previous experience in an electrical engineering role within an industrial hazardous or harsh environment as well as experience of preparing safety documentation required for hazardous electrical plant.

 

Job Description

What will you be responsible for?

 

To provide engineering support to UKAEA and its onsite tenants

To successfully lead and manage complex packages of work to completion from concept to delivery and benefits realisation

Act as an equipment owner and be responsible for plant / equipment at the sub-system or item level

Provide engineering assurance through calculation, analysis and review of existing electrical switchgear

To lead and take full ownership for large work packages associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment, complex installation / modification tasks, and technical studies including preparation of documentation

 

Qualifications

Essential qualification, skills, experience and competence required

 

Good communication and influencing skills

Good knowledge of safe working procedures, with experience of preparing safety documentation (i.e. risk assessments, method statements, permit system for work)

Bachelor’s degree or HNC / HND or equivalent level in Electrical Engineering

Extensive experience obtained following award of the qualification, in an electrical engineering role in an industrial hazardous or harsh environment and professional experience which demonstrates an ability to work at this level

Demonstrable knowledge of large distribution networks

Experience of issuing electrical isolations on Low Voltage systems, including racking out of air circuit breakers

Ability to work across disciplines with internal and external stakeholders

Able to manage own time and workload to deliver against agreed targets

Able to identify and solve unusual/ complex technical problems

 

Desirable skills, experience and competence

 

Preferably the job holder would have previously been an Authorised Person

Confidence in using CAD systems
