WHAT TO EXPECT

This role is for a Sensor System Mechanical Integration Engineer within the Sensor Group in Assisted and Automated Driving, this is critical for delivering AAD & Motion technologies across multiple present and future Model Years. Focus is within the team that develops, integrates and maintains all Sensors for engineering tasks and deliverables for sensor position on the Jaguar Land Rover vehicles of the Sensors onto the defined programmes.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Understand the physical integration of AAD sensors (Radar, Camera, Lidar and Ultra Sonic Sensors) in automotive or aerospace applications
  • Understand the implications of the sensor integration on perception, such as Radar, Camera, Lidar and Ultra Sonic Sensors.
  • Understand the technical strengths and limitations of Radars, Cameras, Lidars and Ultra Sonic Sensors.
  • Understand the technical of Radars, Cameras, Lidars and Ultra Sonic Sensors.
  • Design virtual and physical validation plans to ensure a robust engineering sign off for sensor integrations
  • Design a robust sensor integration algorithm with our supplier and Diagnostic engineer engineers

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

ESSENTIAL

  • Hold a formal qualification in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Hardware/Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • ADAS Sensor Knowledge I.E Cameras, Radar, Lidar, USS (Ultra Sonic Sensors)  
  • Experience in Automotive Engineering Delivery and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
  • Experience in requirements toolsets for engineering sign off and issue tracking
  • Experience in TRM preferred (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and overview of JLR Toolsets, release processes, requirement and issue management (AIMs, RMDV, CORVUS, ASL, Snapshot) (Desirable)
  • Experience of virtual test, component test and vehicle testing including proving ground environments
  • Component and system level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (Six Sigma, 5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc)
  • CAD Design

DESIRABLE

  • Understanding of automotive networking, diagnostics and fault handling techniques, and related system development tools (CANalyzer, ASL, CANape, Corvus etc.)
  • Experience of safety critical systems including standards such as ISO26262, IEC61508 or similar
  • An individual with the ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
