This role will play a pivotal part in defining, designing and integrating the systems and solutions that underpin the AAD Product Portfolio. The ideal candidate will be able to see ‘the big picture’ and apply systems thinking to guide engineers in creating a design that meets demanding customer and regulatory requirements, while ensuring simplicity and harmonization.  The systems that your team will develop are the most complex and highly distributed within the automotive industry. They are safety critical and user centric - all on the backdrop of one the fastest moving technology areas in the world.

The ADAS Systems Engineering Manager, will be responsible to lead and upskill a technical discipline team in the usage MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) within the Assisted and Automated Driving Domain. You will play a key part ensuring engineering quality is achieved in the design of the next generation of ADAS Systems, providing technical support and guidance to your team members that will be deployed across a number of agile delivery squads.
 

Key responsibilities will include:
 

  • Leading a team of System Engineers, creating a body of knowledge and driving the usage of a standardized toolchain.
  • Drive the best practices in the realization of new technologies and innovate through application of systems thinking and systems engineering principles, ensuring end-to-end system and software compatibility for the next generation of Driver Assistance and Automation systems, contributing to the comprehensive system and architecture-level strategy
  • Define and implement effective development plans for individuals in the team (e.g. skills development, coaching, training) as well as recruiting and allocating extra resources to agile squads when possible.
  • Holding accountability for the quality of the engineering artifacts (models, designs, requirements) and will be expected to ensure that the requirements meet global regulated requirements, Functional Safety requirements and Jaguar Land Rover design standards and guidelines.
     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

  • Extensive knowledge in System Engineering processes and its use in the design and delivery process, and in-depth knowledge of ADAS Systems and the ability to investigate the feasibility of solutions
  • Detailed understanding of the application of Modelling to systems engineering process. Including knowledge of SYSML and the MathWorks toolchain, for the creation of modelling artifacts and the ability to train other team members.
  • Ability to author and review requirements either through a model or through requirements defined in a structured format such as EARS
  • Hold a formal qualification such as degree within, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or another relevant STEM subject.

Desirable:

  • Experience of Catia Magic or similar tools
  • Six Sigma Knowledge & Techniques
  • Working experience of Agile methods and (such as Jira).
  • Some experienced with agile Frameworks - (SCRUM, Kanban, or SAFE)
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Cyber security (ISO21434
