The role

As an Avionics Design Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As an Avionics Design Engineer, you'll have a significant impact on the designs created by our CAA approved Aerospace Design Organisation which supports multiples customers across the industry including Air Ambulance and Police, among others across the UK and Europe. You will be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle: from initial proposal and costing, through concept, design and delivery design solutions for a wide variety of aircraft modification projects.

Day to day, you'll support mechanical and certification design engineers in matters relating to electrical and avionic design, as well as:

  • Design aircraft electrical and avionics systems and concepts.
  • Production of manufacturing and installation drawings using AutoCAD in compliance with the internal procedures to meet customer and aerospace regulatory requirements, the Design Office Handbook and relevant Certification Basis e.g., CS-27, CS-29 etc.
  • Completion of electrical load analyses, as well as the analysis of existing systems and designs embodied on aircraft.
  • Support production and installation engineers in matters relating to electrical and avionic design.
  • Carry out aircraft surveys to define design solutions as required. Support aircraft ground testing.

This role is full time and based onsite at Staverton (Gloucestershire Airport), with this role you will be spend 5 days per week onsite.

Essential experience of the Avionics Design Engineer

  • Knowledge of, and the ability to select appropriate avionic / systems and solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering and first principles.
  • Ability to work to a high a consistent level of accuracy. Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to imagine conceptual system design.
  • Previous experience of AutoCAD is beneficial, previous experience as a drawing checker is also beneficial.
  • Experience working within an Aerospace Design Office.
  • Experience of the full design life cycle from conception to delivery of the design package.

Qualifications for the Avionics Design Engineer

  • HNC / HND / Degree in a relevant engineering subject.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve 'SC' security clearance for this role.
