What To Expect

This exciting Calibration Engineer role will allow the individual to work on the most prestigious vehicles at Jaguar Land Rover. The individual will be undertaking calibration to better understand emissions, driveability and mapping. The purpose of this role is to deliver base calibration activities for current and future combustion engines and technologies that will form a fundamental part of Jaguar Land Rover’s exciting future electrified powertrain applications journey.

You will support the development of calibration methodologies and tools. In doing so, minimising time to market and reducing the requirement of actual experimental tests.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Calibration of base engine software to meet worldwide requirements for JLR current and future engine applications
  • Deliver components of the engine base calibration (Air path, Fuel path, CSSRE, Ignition Path, Torque model etc), including validation and robustness
  • Vehicle and Testbed based testing and calibration development
  • Deliver to a comprehensive set of targets through detailed / optimised calibrations to meet the overall applications attributes
  • Work under guidance of the Product Owner and Leads in identifying priorities and tasks during Sprint Planning and Reviews

What You’ll Need

Essential

  • Familiarity with running base engine testbeds and understanding of base engine control parameters
  • Knowledge of Base Engine calibration and controls, ideally to a detailed level in one or more specific field
  • Demonstration of ability to deliver a field of electronic controls systems
  • Experience using ETAS INCA/MDA engineering tools
  • Experience of Vehicle based calibration delivery
  • Knowledge of the latest legislation requirements

Desirable

  • Experience and knowledge of the engineering principles to develop and specify test procedures and equipment necessary to conduct base engine calibration activities
  • Experience with developing calibrations using Engine Testbed, PIL and VIL
  • Experience of Environmental testing both in field and in simulated conditions
  • Understanding of interactions between engine calibration, Engine/PTSE hardware and vehicle sub-systems.
