WHAT TO EXPECT 

As part of the Technical Specialist community, you will be a functional resource for the company.  This role includes developing the future company strategy for processes, components and systems for cabin technology innovations.

You will be a custodian of elements of our key technology for current and future products.  You will be expected to teach, mentor and present at global conferences. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Delivery Efficiency – Design and develop future cabin technology to ensure JLR remain amongst the leader
  • Customer Experience – Lead development of features and systems to ensure deliver ‘ZERO’ customer faults.
  • Business Efficiency – Supplier/system capability assessment enabling optimisation of commodity selection and system design
  • Lead Interface definitions / implementation cross domain.
  • Develop a business aligned vision for technical delivery of the cabin features and systems.
  • Technical leadership to drive function, quality, cost, sustainability & timing improvements on programmes
  • Lead role for developing new technologies and new applications of current technologies.
  • Establish and deploy best technical practice. Knowledge transfer in terms of formal training, and mentoring. Champion Cabin Academy modules and create new modules.
  • Thorough understanding of both internal and external customer attribute and technology requirements for cabin applications.
  • Development of process and reports to ensure consistent and robust delivery of their technology or attribute.
  • Support task force activities to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Expected to teach, mentor and present internally and at world class conferences.
  • Formal sign off of the technical elements of the cabin applications.
  • Champion & promoting systems engineering in the cabin team.

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • Deliver robust designs & innovations that are fault free ‘Zero’ warranty.
  • Accountable for driving future technology, features and systems – own & manage technology roadmap
  • Robust foundation DFMEA, control plans, BOD and BOP
  • System Engineering embedded in the department for current car, predevelopment and new innovations.
  • Responsible to ensure cross-functional technical design reviews are performed on the systems in a collaborative and constructive manner.
  • Ensure team adherence to the use of specified engineering methods, computer tools and aids applied
  • Ensure the cabin features, systems and components are delivered to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Delivery of Cabin Academy Courses as agreed with FSM.

 

 WHAT YOU NEED


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of cabin components, systems & technologies
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and translate into System and component specifications.
  • In-depth knowledge and technical expertise in specialist technologies, complex systems, tools and processes
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new technologies and manufacturing systems and tools
  • Ability to effectively explain complex ideas, confidently presenting these to senior stakeholders
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
  • Will be required to go through the Technical Specialist recruitment process as detailed in Technical Specialist Handbook.
