WHAT TO EXPECT 

We are looking for an experienced CAE Engineer to lead cockpit development to meet system, sub-system and component requirements.  The role may also entail process and methodology development for the right candidate.

Working as part of an Agile team but also independently on occasion,  this role will make use of your existing skill set to effectively deploy CAE techniques and engineering knowledge to support a variety of Cockpit projects.


 Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Support the development of Automotive Components/Systems using engineering knowledge and experience combined with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) techniques, to meet Cockpit performance targets
  • Run CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions and proposals for improvement to the component Lead Engineers in an efficient manner.
  • Able to work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints.  Coordination of team work is likely to use Agile principles.
  • Have some product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions
  • Coordinate and lead projects and teams including the feedback of results as required through design / project reviews
  • Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: Cockpit design teams and interfacing commodity design teams, Attribute teams, packaging teams
  • Work with the Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), Lead Engineers and Test Engineers to ensure project documentation for each project is managed and maintained
  • Liaise with all internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary
  • Support the continual development of tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of Virtual models
  • Mentor and train Junior team members and graduates
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested


WHAT YOU NEED


Knowledge and experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working with LS-DYNA Explicit toolset and CAE methodology including pre and post processing software. (including some or all of the following: D3Plot, Primer, THis, Ansa, Hyperworks)
  • Alternatively, candidates with Optistruct/Nastran may be consider if they have a sounds general CAE knowledge and are quick to learn new software.
  • CAE model build, assembly, shake-down and debugging capability.
  • Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

  • Existing knowledge on Cockpit functional requirements at component, sub-system and vehicle level. (NVH, Safety, Durability, Quality)
  • Experience of using LS-Dyna implicit.
  • Design for Manufacture knowledge applicable to injection moulded parts.
  • Experience in continuous improvements to CAE processes and methodologies
  • Experience of; Robustness analysis, DoE/optimisation techniques, Physical test specification and post test CAE correlation, process automation including scripting.
  • Working within an Agile frame work including knowledge of associated ceremonies and tools (eg Jira)
  • Experience of working with and managing suppliers
