WHAT TO EXPECT

We are looking for an experienced Senior Leaders in Virtual Engineering to join us in Body CAE Core. Working as part of a team of simulation engineers and lead, this role will develop modelling methods, tools, processes and CAE environments.

This is achieved by the application of expert engineering knowledge and computer aided engineering techniques from early in the design cycle, through the development & test phases & on to JOB1.

We also expect from the Senior Leaders to lead/support vehicle or system programmes with concept simulation, modelling expertise and tools from research thru to the delivery phase to JOB1.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Implement improvements to current CAE methods and techniques to drive higher confidence in CAE with improved Detection Event rating
  • Implement lessons learnt and actions of prevent reoccurrence and benchmark Durability software & hardware to maximise efficiency on JLR IT system
  • Document methods, processes & tools developed and disseminate to wider Body CAE Core & Programmes teams
  • Test new versions of 3D EXPERIENCE simulation, Hyperworks ,nCode etc before deployment in Body CAE, whilst growing CAE capability
  • Develop and implement DOE’s, robustness & optimisation processes and methods
  • Implement pre & post processing scripts for automation of model set-up and results on the JLR HPC
  • Manage the development of Automotive Components/Systems using engineering knowledge and experience combined with Computure Aided Engineering (CAE) techniques, to meet Durability performance targets
  • Run CAE analysis, summarise results and feedback conclusions to the component Lead Engineers in an efficient manner.
  • Able to work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints
  • Coordinate and lead projects and teams including the feedback of results as required through design / project reviews
  • Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: COC component design teams, PAT teams, packaging teams
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to ensure project documentation for each project is managed and maintained
  • Support the continual development of tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of Virtual models
  • Mentor and train Junior team members and graduates

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Essential -

  • Working knowledge and experience of CAE methodologies
  • 3D EXPERIENCE Simulation (Abaqus, FESafe, Verity)
  • Coding/scripting using – VBa, Tcl , Perl, Python & Java etc.
  • DOE’s, robustness & optimisations tools
  • Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges
  • Previous experience of Body Structures development using CAE to meet defined performance targets for Durability
  • High level of engineering knowledge used In conjunction with computer aided engineering methods.
  • Previous experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects
  • Project and people management skills.
  • Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design
  • The ability to solve complex technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality output
  • A robust approach to meeting deadlines
  • Good technical communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • PC Skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

Desirable -

  • Altair (Hyperworks , OptiStruct), HBM nCode (DesignLife & Glyphworks) , Mintiab, Tableau, JIRA, Ls-Dyna and Oasys (Primer,D3Plot & T/HIS)
  • Experience in continuous improvements to business processes to support customer service and financial objectives
  • Experience working practices relating to CAE methods and processes
  • Knowledge of other relevant engineering areas
