Salary: £14.00 - £16.00 per hour + overtime (dependent on experience)

About the role:

Due to continual growth, we are looking for a Capstan Setter Operator to join our established team in the manufacturing of bespoke fasteners and precision components. The ideal candidate must have extensive manufacturing experience in a turned part environment. The candidate must demonstrate a high level of understanding of technical information and engineering drawings. They will be responsible for the setup, operation and maintenance of capstan lathes to produce precision components for various industries. The Capstan Setter Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the manufacturing process. All our work is bespoke with each job being unique and so a high level of manufacturing knowledge is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating of Emi-mec series E & S lathes.
  • Setting and operating of thread rollers, presses, drill press and manual lathes.
  • Changing of tips, tools, drills and inserts.
  • Making tools using high speed steel.
  • Measuring parts to engineering drawings using tools such as Venier Calipers, micrometers, ring gauges and shadowgraphs.
  • Following the production job card system.
  • Working with other departments to facilitate production.

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • High attention to detail with a "right first time" mentality.
  • Good analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analyses and devise suitable preventive action plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate to expected deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-player skills.
  • Should be a self-starter, organised, confident and a great communicator at all levels,
