WHAT TO EXPECT

This role sits within the Powertrain Charging Systems team, in the Charging Validation & Verification organisational unit. The role will focus on delivering data from tests in support of design release activity or technology advancement of electric vehicle charging  infrastructure compatibility.

The main activity for this role is to prepare test facility or test parts with instrumentation which enables measurement of a wide range of charging system signals and variables, both on-board and external to the vehicle. In addition, this role will support the collection of data in a wide range of environments such as in a test facility, on public roads and proving grounds.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities will include:

  • Following the successful issue resolution, contribute to the team’s FMA tracker (Failure Mode Avoidance) is up to date and contains at least one test case to prevent recurrence (the team will run the generated test case(s) on its charging station emulator for all future vehicles).
  • Build knowledge around Charging Stations OEM and how they are developing their products.
  • Work towards improvement for our future electric vehicle at a software and electronic level.
  • Support preparation of test facility and/or test parts to enable effective and timely data delivery.
  • Offer technical advice and guidance on collection and measurement of data. To collate, manipulate and interpret data which will be used to inform engineering decisions.
  • Execute commissioning and acceptance testing of measurement equipment.
  • Carry out data quality and performance reporting for measurement equipment and capability.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

In order to be considered for this position it is advantageous to hold a formal qualification such as Degree within Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field or equivalent.


The successful candidate needs to have strong Awareness of existing charging Standards (e.g., CCS / COMBO, DIN 70121 and ISO15118); issue resolution methodology; understanding of test facilities and test part preparation; experienced with data acquisition and control systems and data analysis and reporting of test data and natural problem-solver with structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.

 

Essential

  • Demonstrable electronic hardware design & test knowledge and demonstrable software integration knowledge.
  • Vehicle charging Systems and applications experience and the ability to validate, prepare and read engineering documents.
  • Six Sigma, Black Belt and Green Belt Training and certification and experience with IATF16949 or ISO9001 standards and requirements.
  • Proficient in the use and application of a programming / scripting language (C/C++, python, Java, or similar).
  • A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, 2 years accident-free record.
