The role

As a Commissioning Engineer - Electrical, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be commissioning emergent and future technologies on one of the country's warships.
The Commissioning Group Warships is the test section tasked with delivering vessel to the Royal Navy having been proven to operate at or beyond the designed specification.
There will also be opportunities to influence design, build and commissioning activities, across programmes.

Day-to-day, your work will involve inspection and testing of ships electrical equipment. The work will mainly be on RN Warships but will also support on occasion landing craft.

  • Carry out inspections, testing and diagnostics on HM Warships Marine Systems
  • Liaise with both Royal Navy and Project staff daily
  • Inspect and test the ship's electrical equipment
  • Write test documentation when required

This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Commissioning Engineer - Electrical:

  • Knowledge of ship electrical systems/equipment
  • Experience of commissioning process advantageous
  • Knowledge of inspection and resting methods and test form process
  • Knowledge of landing craft - advantageous
  • Computer literate, particularly Microsoft Word

Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineer - Electrical:

  • Time served Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering
  • ONC or Equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline, a lower level of qualification may be acceptable provided the post holder has substantial and relevant experience.
  • Successful applicants will need to satisfy MoD security requirements
