The role
As a Commissioning Engineer - Electrical, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role is vital to ensuring the functionality and safety of submarine systems, providing assurance to the MoD and Royal Navy. This role offers unique experience into engineering, submarine systems and associated commissioning requirements, with great opportunities for career development.

Day to day, you'll be part of a team that plans and delivers commissioning tasks onboard submarines, taking responsibility for ensuring the safe and functional operation of systems in support of submarine maintenance periods:

  • Production of documentation to enable commissioning activities to be undertaken safely and in order to meet the desired outcome.
  • Undertaking commissioning activities onboard submarines, such as installation checks, testing and setting to work of systems.
  • Setting to work other staff in support of commissioning activities as part of a Safe System of Work.
  • Identifying and mustering equipment in support of commissioning activities.
  • Ensuring that submarine systems are fully functional in order to provide assurance to the customer

This role is full time 36 hours with potential shift working where required - dayshift / backshift pattern and will be based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Commissioning Engineer - Electrical:

  • Engineering experience
  • Experience of commissioning systems - desirable
  • Submarine systems experience - desirable

Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineer - Electrical:

  • Level 3 in engineering discipline or equivalent with suitable experience

Please note that this position is subject to national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
