The role
As a Commissioning Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the capability of the Commissioning Group can meet present and future programme demands. This will ensure ongoing support is provided to the Royal Navy submarine service.

Day to day, you'll manage, lead and develop the Commissioning Group Engineering team to support the delivery teams across multiple platforms to meet the programme demands.

  • Ensuring adequate engineering capability is in place to support programme delivery in accordance with legislation, including oversight and governance of multiple engineering equipment projects
  • Ensuring the safe operation of all plant and processes under their control and to comply with the Site Licence Arrangements (SLAs)
  • Liaising and engaging with various stakeholders around the business including within the Engineering function and Technical & Design Authorities

This role is full time and will be based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Commissioning Engineering Manager:

  • Experience of managing a team within a project / programme / engineering environment
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and application of safety best practice in a large-scale industrial environment
  • Knowledge of asset management
  • Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle, governance processes and configuration control

Qualifications for the Commissioning Engineering Manager:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline with membership of appropriate institution - ideally within a mechanical discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards
  • APMQ qualified (desirable)

Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
