The Role
As a Communications Design Lead, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be accountable for the creation of compliant audio and data switching architectures that are used for the countries strategic communications.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Provide in-depth technical expertise and system design ownership, collaborating with other SMEs.
  • Oversee a small team of engineers producing detailed specifications, designs and other technical deliverables
  • Manage engineering change to systems, deconflicting priorities as necessary
  • Lead technical interactions with suppliers in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Contribute to technical interactions with the customer.

This full-time role provides flexible hybrid working with one or two days per week in the office and the remainder working from home.

Essential experience of the Communications Design Lead

  • Experience of voice and data traffic handling and switching systems VCCS (Voice Communications Control System) & ICCS (Integrated Communications Control System)
  • Voice and data comms technologies and protocols such as SIP/RTP, ED-137, serial, IP, TDM.
  • Demonstrable System and solution architecture design and delivery experience

Qualifications for the Communications Design Lead

Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant engineering subject. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don't hold formal qualifications.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
