The Communication Section Head role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Communication Section Head will make
As a Communication Section Head, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role is key to the maintenance and delivery of functional complex communications equipment and is a great opportunity for a proactive Engineering Technician to impact and influence the regeneration of key RN assets.

Day to day, you'll work in collaboration to ensure the material state of communications systems and associated equipment is successfully repaired, maintained and recommissioned.

Essential experience

* HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering specialisation with significant demonstrable experience.
* Ability to operate and maintain warship equipment and undertake repairs within the engineering department. Good knowledge of RN operating procedures with particular skills in the weapon engineering disciplines. Particular knowledge of communications and associated equipment, weapon engineering system management, engineering management, health and safety, and UMMS is desirable.
* Ideally have T23 experience with experience in operating and maintaining systems.
* Communication system maintenance is desirable.
* The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
