The role
As a Compliance Engineer within our Infrastructure section you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business. You will support the Principal Engineer to ensure that infrastructure assets and high risk activities across HMNB Clyde comply with the relevant regulations, MOD mandatory policy and industry best practice. Provide professional engineering support to operational areas and MOD departments

Day to day, you'll provide professional engineering support to operational areas and MOD departments in areas such as Fire Risk Management, Building Services and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering depending on your engineering background.

* Develop adequate competence to provide advice and guidance to operational departments, contractors and project teams across HMNB Clyde to ensure compliance with regulations and associated industry best practice in key areas as directed by the Principal Engineer.
* Actively support compliance monitoring to Clyde management arrangements and industry best practice for key high risk activities (design & installation, Maintenance, testing & inspection) of areas such as working at height, confined spaces, lifting equipment & lifting operations, pressure systems, gas systems, electrical testing, dangerous substances & explosives atmospheres, Fire risk management & building maintenance as directed by the Principal Engineer.
* Develop and maintain a working knowledge of industry asset care best practice to become a topic specialist in key areas as directed by the Principal Engineer.
* Contribute to site compliance checks, investigations, and planned auditing support of site operations and activities as directed by the Principal Engineer.
* Support the Engineering Authorisation undertaking site compliance monitoring of systems and assets as requested by the Coordinating Authorising Engineer.
* Support dissemination and monitoring of changes to legislation, standards, safety alerts, technical guidance relevant to HMNB Clyde operation

Essential experience of the Compliance Engineer - Infrastructure
* The post holder will be expected to develop a broad and deep knowledge of the management of high risk activities and asset best practice in a highly regulated, high-hazard industrial workplace as described in the Key Results Areas, above.
* The post holder will require to be IOSH Risk management/IOSH Managing Safely qualified and have operational experience with one or more subject areas described within key results area.
* The post holder will require a good understanding of compliance policies and the inter-dependencies of conventional Health & Safety and nuclear safety requirements at HMNB Clyde

Qualifications for the Compliance Engineer - Infrastructure
* HNC, SVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Fire Management) - we will align to relevant disciplines based on core engineering background
* NEBOSH Fire Risk Management - desirable
* Confined Space Competent Person - desirable
* Asbestos Awareness - desirable
* LEEA Foundation Course - desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
