The Opportunity:

We are looking for a System Architect to provide knowledge and expertise to an exciting new product as part of the FCAS (Future Combat Air System)/Tempest programme. The successful candidate will be an analytical systems thinker, able to specify new concepts and algorithms, and organise them through the subsystem architecture.

This high profile role will have you working jointly across our business including Programmes, Engineering and Sales & Business Development as well as give you the opportunity to facilitate experiments with the customer community to communicate, explore and test them.

You will be joining a growing team of highly skilled people working across the breadth of MBDA's current and future products. The department is focussed on growing and developing a team of excellent System Architects. It is a small experienced team focussed on technical solutions and setting the right design principles with new projects.

What we're looking for from you:

  • A solid understanding of weapon systems, platforms and battlespace architectures.
  • Robust Weapon System Engineering knowledge, alongside the ability and desire to test new techniques and utilise new ideas to develop new concepts
  • Strong experience of concept development and trade studies
  • An ability to clearly communicate new concepts and architectures to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability and cultural awareness to work with multi-disciplinary teams supporting technology and concepting.
  • Confidence to embrace the uncertain nature of early concept development and technologies to progress towards defining system concepts and solutions
