MEH Alliance
The Commissioning Engineer role is based within our Cavendish Nuclear area.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project.

The role
As a Cranes Commissioning Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. At Hinkley Point C we're building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes.

Day to day, you'll contribute your knowledge and skills to be a core part of one of the nation's key infrastructure projects. Overseeing the preparation and delivery of the commissioning of the different fuel route systems and cranes and manage the interface with the other Programmes.

  • Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities
  • Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning
  • Contribute to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
  • Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
  • Analyse commissioning results and provide reports summarising the outcome of commissioning
  • Ensure that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects best practice in international safety and technical excellence

This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract (with scope for further extension), 37-hours per week. Based at Hinkley Point C.

Essential experience of the Cranes Commissioning Engineer

  • Knowledge of UK context and legislation for lifting equipment (e.g. LOLER)
  • Experience of conformity assessment for lifting equipment and working with Third Parties
  • Strong technical background in lifting and handling equipment
  • Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures
  • Track record of major project delivery in a technical role

Qualifications for the Cranes Commissioning Engineer:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance for this role.
