WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The X-Domain Feature Team are accountable for the integration of a specific group of complex customer features that require multiple ECU software products across two or more Technical Domains to deliver them. The team’s focus is to derive the full set of feature interdepencies and cross-domain Software interactions that need to occur to deliver each feature within that group, then break down the steps required into time-based goals and co-ordinate their integration into customer vehicle programmes to Engineering Sign-off.

The team ensures that smooth and seamless cross-functional working happens to execute all phases of feature creation - functional decomposition, design requirements, network requirements and test case linkage, to introduce the features in the target electrical architecture(s) in a planned and controlled way. Alongside providing integration direction, the team provide support and assistance to the technical domains with any and all of the feature design aspects as required to ensure on time feature delivery and Engineering Sign-off is assured.

The X-Domain Feature Engineer role requires an excellent relationship builder who can entrench themselves within the Agile domain engineering teams at a working level, to align feature and software delivery plans across the sprints and product increments of multiple departments. The X-domain feature engineer also supports the process of providing Platform TGLs with Feature KPIs – feature design progression, introduction timing, major issues and resolution plans, as well as ensuring the Impediment process is followed and assisting with major issue resolution as needed to enable on-time delivery.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

 

  • Primary responsibility to ensure timely delivery of complex features into programmes, identifying and removing any roadblocks that may prevent success.
  • Work with Technical Domains/delivery areas to align feature delivery timelines with programme major milestones, gain alignment of targets within PIs and sprint planning across all dependency areas.
  • Lead resolution of key integration issues to assist achieving ESO for responsible feature group on time.
  • Identify & communicate critical paths and dependencies within feature delivery plans.
  • Comprehensive & coordinated reporting of status via the consolidated “Integration Report” to management.
  • Provide single escalation point for issues surrounding delivery of key feature group.
  • Be a key stakeholder in the feature/network change management boards.

Continue to drive process and reporting excellence in the discipline of Feature, Systems and Software engineering.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in the integration and delivery of complex electrical, electromechanical or software systems.
  • Demonstrated experience of technical analysis and employing best-in-class processes in engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills – able to collaboratively influence colleagues and provide guidance with own team.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of key vehicle systems integration and whole vehicle systems engineering.
  • Proven ability to interpret and use technical data along with business skills with technical decision-making.
  • Experience of programme and project delivery processes.

Relevant degree or equivalent experience
