The role

As a Package Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will be the project lead for key packages of work on the boat, this could include reactor systems, the in water engineering package or internal /external tank packages. Planning and leading these packages and reporting progress against time, cost and quality in accordance with the contractual requirements.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for delivery of key work packages to ensure the successful completion of Boat 1 survey and docking period project and work jointly with our customer the Submarine Delivery Agency.

* Supporting the development of accurate and up-to-date financial and schedule estimates, as well as accurate planning monitoring and control of work packages
* Identifying and implementing opportunities to accelerate project delivery utilising new technologies or ways of working.
* To monitor progress of delegated tasks and activities, reporting to the Project Manager as to time, cost, quality and risk.
* To deputise for the Project Manager, as required, ensuring continued successful project delivery.
* Leading delegated non-complex sub-projects and tasks for the duration of the contract, including resource forecasting, delegation of activities, teamwork, conflict resolution, project communication and stakeholder management.

Essential experience of the Package Manager

* Experience working in technical/engineering projects
* Working knowledge of MoD procurement and project delivery practices is desirable
* Excellent relationship building and communications skills
* Domain knowledge and experience of nuclear submarines is desirable

The role is predominantly onsite at Devonport with potential for some hybrid working, normally 1-2 days per week.

Qualifications for the Package Manager

* Undergraduate Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering or management discipline or equivalent experience
* APMP or equivalent qualification in project management would be desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
