WHAT TO EXPECT

We have an opportunity for a Development Engineer who can take responsibility for mechanical development, performance and functional verification and durability as part of the power unit design verification plan (DVP).

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Principally you would be responsible for delivery of power unit functional, durability and attribute validation testing, ensuring validation test activity is delivered on time and to the required data quality and delivery standards
  • Responsible for one of seven engine systems and its functional attributes and durability across multiple engine programmes with a significant contribution to the Failure Mode Avoidance activities for this system
  • Ensuring tests are conducted safely to correct health and safety procedures. 
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate accurate test plans, that clearly identify the timing and specific requirements of test facilities required. 
  • Support continuous improvement activity including creation and maintenance of Jaguar Land Rover’s company standards

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

This role is best suited to a highly effective communicator. Someone who is a self-starter and thinks on their think / can use their own initiative.  A good planner and organiser of priorities.

Essential Technical Skills

  • A technical background with knowledge of engine components and systems
  • Experience of automotive component/system validation
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of problem resolution and quality tools with a structured, logical, and objective based approach to all aspects of the role
  • Experience and proficiency in data processing (in any: Excel VBA, Matlab, Python, variants of C, Minitab, Tableau).

Desirable:

  • Experience of issue resolution within an Agile project environment
  • Good working knowledge of automotive Product Creation Delivery System (or similar process)
  • Use of software programming to assist efficient data processing (Excel VBA, Matlab, Concerto Scripting)
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine design architecture in an automotive engineering environment
