WHAT TO EXPECT

Manufacturing Engineering (ME) are at the heart of delivering our outstanding products to market. From designing processes and facilities, through to commissioning and quality maturation, we bring our breathtaking new Products to life. Ensuring the World Class Exterior and Interior Quality our vehicles merit is the remit of the Dimensional Systems team. We are responsible for all elements of Dimensional Quality, such as Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) of product design, defining and delivering the Measurement and Metrology strategy, through to quality Maturation of new vehicles through launch. We are seeking a Lead Engineer in the Dimensional Systems Core team, who will have the opportunity to lead a team of highly skilled Dimensional Engineers in the delivery of one of our vehicles. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Attend programme meetings at all levels and present where applicable
  • Lead and conduct Quality Planning and Analysis for Manufacturing
  • Key point of contact with other department / disciplines
  • Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
  • Support their Line Manager in programme meetings where applicable
  • Liaise with colleagues in other department / disciplines
  • Identify technical issues and escalate where appropriate
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their Lead Engineer or Line Manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
  • Delivery of Clay appraisals assessment working with PD and the Design studio.
  • Development of emerging technologies associated with body structures / closure assemblies
  • Product benchmarking, establishing best practices
  • Determine and drive programme method standardisation.
  • Provide Bill of Process (BoP) & Bill of Design (BoD) updates (Dimensional Focused)
  • Provide technical support & Leadership to programme launch teams including problems solving and route cause analysis

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential

  • General Understanding of Manufacturing Processes & Lean Principles
  • Effective Communicator; Verbal and Written
  • Team Leadership Experience
  • Computer Literacy
  • Self Motivated
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Degree / Higher National Certificate / Diploma or apprenticeship in relevant Engineering discipline

Desirable

  • General understanding of Automotive Manufacturing Processes (ideally BiW – Body-in-White)
  • Understanding of part/assembly Location Strategy Principals
  • Relevant Dimensional / Tooling Maturation experience including R&R studies
  • Metrology experience
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Six Sigma Training
  • Project Management Skills
  • CAD Skills – Catia V5/V6
