About the role

As Director of Product Development, you will be a key part of the Senior Management Team and of H.E.L’s growth strategy, with scope to develop and deploy new processes.

You will lead, manage and develop a high performing, cross-functional Product Development Team and foster the innovative culture to deliver new products and improvements at pace through sound project management. You will have a central role in product development strategy, building relationships with key suppliers, industry experts and thought leaders.

About you

You will be an existing product development leader, heading up a cross-functional Product Development Team with a portfolio of new product and product improvement projects. You do not need to be an expert in H.E.L’s products, but you will have some knowledge of manufacturing process measurement or controls. And you will be someone who focusses on delivery through solid project management methodologies with a track record of producing new products.

Additionally, you will have:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an appropriate scientific or engineering-based discipline
- A practical background in one of the disciplines associated with NPI function e.g. mechanical, electrical or electronic design engineering, chemical or biological, or software development
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement
- Excellent leadership and coaching skills, able to blend learning and innovation with accountability
- Strong influencing and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication skills, incl. written and spoken English

An understanding of scientific instrumentation development, chemical processes and/or temperature and pressure monitoring would be advantageous, as would knowledge of regulatory/safety requirements including ISO9001, ISO14001, PE(S)R.

Training will be provided on products and underpinning science where required along with SAP Business One and relevant Health & Safety.
