WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be working at the forefront of engineering at Jaguar Land Rover, responsible for the development of the newest optimised wiring harness architectures for all our future product platforms. Our team work collaboratively with engineers from across our business, as well as a wide range of technology partners, to create cutting edge designs for our future vehicle models. These enable our products to consistently deliver the best-in-class capabilities and experiences for which we are known.
 In this role you will make use of your design skills and electrical work bench experience within the CATIA toolset, as well as JLR’s CAD standards and methodologies, to efficiently connect all of the electrical components integrated into our vehicles. This entails a collaborative mindset, interacting closely across departmental teams such as Body and Chassis Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, etc.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Create compatible package solutions for Harness routing in almost every zone of the vehicle (40 eZones)
  • Creation of Parametric Harness routing including 12V and HV cables, adhering to JLR CAD standards
  • ‘Design in context’ work ethic to ensure geometry compatibility with cross functional teams including Body, Trim, Powertrain, Chassis, Manufacturing, Service & Design.
  • Coordinate, present and report package status at Senior reviews 
  • Secure packaging sign-off of installations from all stakeholders
  • Ensure all Harness packaging solutions meet the functional requirements & adhere to the keep out zones (SDS’s).
  • Ensure that harness routing complies to the JLR methodology and CAD standards.
  • Creation and maintenance of Electrical Design Solutions (DS’s) for a given programme(s) for Wiring Harnesses.
  • Highlighting & leading Geometrical incompatibilities involving Wiring Harnesses to Program and Vehicle Engineering teams for issue resolution
  • Scoring and status metric of CAD data progression using VEPS tool against virtual gateways
  • Escalation of any delivery shortfalls including programme gateway risks and programme assumption changes to Core teams.
  • Support and resolve any Wiring Harness package issues from Physical build events
  • Support Virtual Series countdown events, Manufacturing virtual builds, Program Go/No Go events, must resolves
  • Contribution and application of Bill of Design (BoD) and knowledge of Bill of Process (BOP) whilst designing Harnesses.
  • Team member in an Agile operating model for a given platform / program to deliver 3D geometry in an efficient yet timely manner.
  • Create change documentation including 2D Drawing mark-ups to support Harness industrialisation
  • Complete 3D geometry vs Physical harness checks

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Certified Catia V5 / V6 user
  • 3D Experience (Enovia) and TeamCentre (TCe) 
  • Harness routing experience using Electrical Workbench
  • Negotiation / trade off skills 
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

  • HV Harness routing experience
  • AVA (parametric) modelling
  • Working in an Agile Structure
  • Bill Of Design and Bill of process knowledge
  • Harness manufacturing experience
  • Experience in Capital Harness 
  • ECAD/MCAD alignment experience
  • Project Management / Team leadership experience
