Are you an experienced Transmissions and/or Driveline Engineer looking to diversify into electrified product development?

We are looking to expand our Electric Drive Unit team within SVO and need engineers with experience of delivering transmission and driveline systems, either at a Tier 1 or OEM. Prior experience of working with electric machines is desirable but not essential for the right candidate - this could be the role to give you the experience of delivering electric drive units

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an EDU Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, testing and introduction of SVO Electric Drive Unit (EDU) Systems to support the SVO Cycle Plan, delivering on time to cost and quality targets. The Lead Engineer will report into the SVO Transmissions, Driveline & EDU Manager.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

As an EDU Lead Engineer, you will act as Lead Engineer for Electric Drive Units within SVO Propulsion Engineering, deliver SVO EDU Systems to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS), and own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables. You will manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones, and manage supplier rig and JLR vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the automotive industry and the potential of SVO for JLR. You will have strong project management capabilities with the ability to multitask and be comfortable challenging cross-functionally and at a variety of levels within the business. You will be

resilient and enthusiastic, an individual that is able to deliver results under pressure, while responding constructively to new ideas and inputs.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience with the development and delivery of transmission, driveline or EDU systems
  • Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
  • Degree in relevant Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline

Desirable:

  • Previous experience with EDU system development
  • Previous experience with eMachine development
  • Previous experience with inverter and HEV/EV system integration
