Job Description
Who are we looking for?

We have a superb opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Central Engineering Department. You will provide electrical engineering design support for the broad range of UKAEA's Fusion programmes, this means you get to work on innovative and world leading technologies that are at the fore front of Fusion development.

As the Electrical Design Engineer, you will take full responsibility for delivery of work and be accountable for it. You will be capable of working to the latest international standards and understand the latest technologies in the field. This will require you to have effective communication both orally and written, enabling you to influence people at all levels.

The role would suit someone with a methodical and analytical approach to problem solving and enjoy working co-operatively withing a team.

What will you be responsible for?

Providing Electrical Design support on major fusion sub-systems from concept through to detailed design
Ensuring that design deliverables are validated and compliant with international & UKAEA standards
Producing technical reports and procedures including design calculations
Acting as a technical reference for UKAEA in areas of specialist knowledge

Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required

A working knowledge of electrical design standards and practices
Experience in complex industrial control systems Sound knowledge of LV systems and able to perform simple calculations
Competent CAD user with experience of SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan
Relevant engineering degree, HNC or apprenticeship qualifications

Desirable skills, experience and competence

Experience with motor drives and position control
Experience with Functional Safety of Machinery. BS EN 13849, BS EN 61508 for example
Experience with 3D CAD package
Completed full electrical engineering apprenticeship
ATEX qualified. BS 7671
