Babcock’s role encompasses all through-life support, deep maintenance, decommissioning and baseporting of the UK’s submarines, and contributing in-service expertise to the future submarine programme; maintaining and refitting warships; building the next generation aircraft carriers; naval base management and maintenance; operating strategic shore- based naval support facilities; equipment management and support; engineering, design, systems integration and platform management capabilities; and design, supply and support of high integrity naval systems and vessels; all underpinned by significant information management expertise.

Due to continued growth within our Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) division we are now looking to recruit a number of Electrical Engineers across various grades to support on engineering investigations, design changes and associated project management of engineering projects in the maintenance of the design intent and availability of In-Service Submarine Flotilla. The primary focus will be Submarine Electrical Systems and Submarine Signature Reduction Systems.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for competent Electrical Engineers to apply engineering knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation in support of assigned task and project.

For the Senior and Principal grades you will act as the Lead Engineer for the specification, planning, execution and delivery of specific submarine design support / design change projects as well as providing coaching and mentorship for the junior members of the team. 

What will you be doing?

• Undertake technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements;
• Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities;
• Plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks and projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost;
• Keep up to date in relevant technical areas and develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide effective delivery;
• Participate in bid preparation to facilitate the development of successful bids;
 • Support less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development;

The experience you’ll bring 

• Engineering experience across a wide range of systems.
• Experience in undertaking of engineering studies.
• Experience of producing technical reports
• Experience of project management techniques
• Experience as the primary point of contact for a customer.
 • Either already UK Security cleared or able for achieve UK SC clearance
