What To Expect

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Rig Engineer to join an open, communicative, collaborative and productive environment within Jaguar Land Rover. You will be a key member of our Labcar department which is at the forefront of prototype vehicle development and testing. The Labcar department is responsible for the build and delivery of whole vehicle electrical systems and network architecture rigs. You will be focused on rig-based commodities on existing and new vehicle programs in the Jaguar Land Rover House of Brands.

 

The Electrical Rig Engineer will work with management and a team of technicians, be required to coordinate and support all areas of the builds, including frame modifications, power strategies, high and low voltage harness and component installation and debug, safety procedures, and support customers testing.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate and support delivery of Labcar programs with a wide range of variants including Battery Electric Vehicles, Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles.

  • Be heavily involved in the tracking and rectification of Labcar issues including Concern and Corrective Action Report support and management.

  • Pro-actively assist in creation and refinement of Safe systems of work, processes and procedures.

  • Be a confident member of the team and demonstrate positivity and willingness to support a small team of technicians through process including IPT, system debug, harness reworks and various rectification.

  • Engage with the implement of all Health & Safety, ISO45001, ISO14001, TS16949, COSHH and "Lean" procedures and standards as required by the business.

 

What You’ll Need

 

Essential:

 

  • Experience with electrical diagnostic procedures and ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.

  • Must be self-motivated, keen to take on responsibility, able to work individually as well as part of a cross functional collaborative team.

  • Competent IT skills, especially MS Excel and Word.

  • An effective team player who supports team members as well as being reliable and conscientious.

  • Good knowledge of vehicle software packages and tools including CANalyser and CORVUS and DMD (Internal JLR)

  • Competent with circuit diagrams, harness drawings and programs such as EDS, DT Database (Internal JLR).

  • A passion for continuous technical improvement including their own skills and knowledge.

  • An effective team player who supports team members.

  • Good understanding of vehicle electrical systems including high voltage systems and components.

  • Knowledge and familiarity of electrical diagnostic techniques and Network management systems

  • Qualified in an Engineering Discipline Minimum Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or BTEC National certificate in an electrical/electronic based discipline.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Good understanding of vehicle electrical systems including high voltage systems and components.

  • Previous Jaguar Land Rover product knowledge
