WHAT TO EXPECT

The current limitations of Semiconductors in the world have created a need for a new way of thinking within our electronics hardware teams. Long term the need of advanced electronics and thereby semiconductors will continue to grow in order to support our business. JLR are looking to grow the semiconductor engineering teams to improve focus on the semiconductor use throughout our vehicles. This team will support engineering to manage semiconductor shortages and short-term hardware changes.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • To support the crisis squads, understand semiconductor shortages and potential engineering solutions available to maintain vehicle production schedules.
  • To actively support engineering design teams in the use of appropriate semiconductors which align with our preferred supplier partners  
  • To work with squad leads and vehicle engineering teams to minimise the impact of semiconductor shortages across the business.
  • To ensure there is a developed plan to manage product obsolescence
  • Work with other design engineering teams and hardware compliance teams to ensure any hardware update programme includes obsolescence management
  • Management of the JLR approved semiconductor component database

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Solid understanding of electrical, electronic and electromechanical components with firm understanding of electronic design principles.
  • Previous experience in electronic component sourcing would be an advantage
  • Understanding of JLR component hardware design is an advantage
  • Electronics component commodity management experience
  • Problem solver with an agile way of working
  • Motivated by change management and ability to drive change
  • Strong communication skills from operational to executive level.
  • Relationship and Network builder – internal and external
  • Fast learner – with a curious mindset
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Ability of being a strong team player in parallel of driving topics independently.
  • University degree, preferably in engineering or business
