The role

As an Electronics Lecturer (Radar Weapons and Surveillance) you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock manages all aspects of the land training cycle, delivering over 758,000 training days annually for the British Army and producing personnel that are knowledgeable, skilled and competent to operate in the most challenging circumstances.

We are looking for a highly skilled RADAR, Guided Weapons and Surveillance engineer with the ability to teach all three subjects from a theoretical and practical perspective.

In return, the role will be rewarding and challenging and satisfaction will be derived from knowing that the lessons delivered enhances teaching given has enhanced students understanding and equipped students for a technical career in the British Army.

Day to day, you'll be working as part of an integrated Common Engineering Applications Team, you will be expected to Teach RADAR at Level 3, 4 and 5 as well as:

  • Teach Guided Weapons at Level 3 and above
  • Teach Surveillance Systems at Level 3 and above
  • Develop teaching resources, lesson plans, material and contextualised content in line with the course specification (including multimedia resources such as Moodle activities)
  • Demonstrate extemporary teaching skills and strive to create excellent lessons for the benefit of the students and customer
  • Support the design of new courses in conjunction with Course Design Teams
  • Continuously improve your teaching and engineering abilities, evidencing this through reflective practise, research and reading

Essential experience of the Electronics Lecturer (Radar Weapons and Surveillance)

  • A background in the operation and repair of RADAR, Guided Weapons and Surveillance systems as a civilian. coupled with an in-depth knowledge of how to explain the electronic engineering concepts employed.
  • Excellent knowledge of the electronic principles employed in all three subjects
  • The successful candidate will integrate seamlessly into a team of lecturers in a military teaching environment. They will be self-motivated and possess the initiative to continuously critique and improve their performance
  • This is a full time, permanent position based in Lyneham, 37hour week 8am-5pm apart from Wednesdays - 8am-1pm

Qualifications for the Electronics Lecturer (Radar Weapons and Surveillance)

* A Degree or HND in a relevant Engineering subject (essential)
* PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification (or the motivation to complete an in-house CET Level4 qualification) (desirable)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
