AWE is currently recruiting for an Electronics/Electrical Engineer to join the Electromagnetics Engineering Team. The team support multiple AWE programmes and operate across sites and functions.

We have opportunities at a junior and experienced level. For a junior, this would be a great opportunity for someone who has newly graduated in electrical or electronic engineering with an interest in working in Electromagnetics.

For any experienced engineers who will have industry experience, this role offers an established career development pathway in an Electronics based environment to help further your career.

Location - Reading area

Package - £26,200 - £37,000 per annum + allowances (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

As a member of the Electromagnetics Engineering team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the production and delivery of high-quality technical documentation, including test plans, reports and procedures

  • Support the Senior Engineers and Task Management in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities

  • Test installations, equipment and systems

  • Analyse/record data

  • Actively seek to fill gaps in knowledge regarding Electromagnetic Engineering including Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electrostatic Discharge & Electromagnetic Fields

  • Demonstrate excellent customer facing skills with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Organise personal training and development under the guidance of a professional mentor

We would love to hear from an excellent communicator who possesses a STEM vocational qualification. If you also have considerable practical experience or equivalent, we would encourage your application.

To be considered for the role, the ideal candidate would have any of the following:

  • Electrical/electronic engineering experience

  • Experience of EMC testing (desirable)

  • Awareness of relevant commercial and defence EMC standards (desirable)

  • Ability to work efficiently as a self-directed individual or part of a team

  • Competent in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Experience in preparing technical documentation

  • Proven track record of delivery

In addition, it would be desirable for candidates to have the following:

  • Experience working in an electromagnetic engineering position

  • Membership of a professional institution

  • Experience teaching/training others

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
