About the job

Bristol

MBDA is a leading defence organisation.  We are proud of the role we play in supporting the Armed Forces who protect our nations. We partner with governments to work together towards a common goal, defending our freedom.

Salary: Circa £56,000 depending on experience

What we can offer you:

  • Company bonus of up to 21% of base salary
  • Pension of maximum total (employer and employee) contribution of up to 14%
  • Parental benefits including up to 26 weeks full pay for maternity, paternity, adoption, neonatal and shared parental leave
  • Fantastic site facilities, including subsidised meals, free car parking (and gym on site at Stevenage)
  • Excellent career progression and development opportunities
  • We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role

Dynamic (hybrid) working: We trust our people to agree, within their teams, where and when they can be most effective. Our Dynamic Working policy allows individuals flexibility around the hours they work and where they work. Typically for this role you will work 2 days per week on-site.

The opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has opened up to join our group Capability & Governance (C&G) directorate. C&G delivers state-of-the-art engineering capabilities (tools, process, methods, skills) for the design & validation of MBDA products.

As part of the digital transformation of Engineering, C&G is responsible for the engineering data strategy and governance. A key enabler of the data governance is the common Greater Engineering EA (Enterprise Architecture) repository, which contains the data catalogue and architecture, and aims at describing the business data produced/consumed by the engineering teams (collaboration maps), data SOTs (sources of truths), data flows and digital continuities across engineering teams and tools.

You will be responsible with:

  • Developing and maintaining the Greater Engineering EA, for each national MBDA company and for the baseline MBDA level solution, aiming towards convergence and consistency
  • Supporting digital projects (including the MBE project) and Greater Engineering functions to catalogue and model their data into the Greater Engineering EA repository
  • Aligning the Greater Engineering EA repository with other MBDA repositories
  • Contributing to develop and implement the data governance policies and guidelines
  • Providing awareness and coaching on data governance and EA

You will be the single point of contact for C&G in UK Greater Engineering departments for Enterprise Architecture and Data Strategy/Implementation. Building strong relationships with multiple teams across MBDA including MBDA National Companies (UK, France, Germany and Italy) will give you great opportunity to expand and develop your knowledge in this area.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Degree in data science or practical experience in data governance or data architecture or data modelling activities
  • Experience of digital transformation project or tool/process/data improvement project
  • Experience in driving convergence and agreement of international/diverse teams
  • Knowledge of aeronautics/defence engineering development process, tools and produced data is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Rigour in maintaining a common repository and applying common governance rules

We are committed to growing and supporting diversity in our workforce and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to reach their potential.   MBDA is proud of our employee-led networks, examples include: Gender Equality, Pride, Menopause Matters, Parents and Carers, Armed Forces, Ethnic Diversity, Neurodiversity and more…

Further restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may also apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Due to the nature of our business, this particular vacancy requires the applicant as a minimum to be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship and capable of achieving the clearance levels mentioned above.
