Job Title: Engineering Lecturer

Location: Coventry

Salary: £23,426- £34,421 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience). A market forces payment will be applied, increasing the salary to circa £35k

Job type: Full Time, Permanent.

Coventry College was formed in August 2017 as the sole General Further Education provider in the city, delivering vocational, technical and professional education and training to learners of all ages, from Entry Level to Higher Education.

The Role

We have an opportunity for motivated individuals to join the engineering team, teaching on a range of Engineering courses.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake a programme of work which may include classroom/workshop teaching, outreach work and delivery of open/distance learning packages.
  • Develop and deliver a range of courses across a variety of subjects and levels.
  • Under the direction of the Programme Manager assist with the development of the curriculum for new and existing course programmes and service provision.
  • Assist with the organisation and monitoring of student placements.
  • Be responsible for the tracking and monitoring of learner attendance, progress and achievement of a particular course(s), module(s) or group(s).
  • Under the direction of the Programme Manager take a lead role in the effective implementation of key College priorities within the specified curriculum area (e.g. work experience, enrichment activities, development of online resources for blended learning, development of links with external agencies).
  • Work with line manager to identify training needs and actively seek out relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Under the direction of the Programme Manager a leading role in internal verification (IV) and co-ordinate IV sampling of assessments for the specified curriculum area.
  • Assist the Head of Faculty and Programme Manager in preparing for external verifier visits, liaising with the external verifier for relevant programmes of study, as appropriate.

Ideal Candidate

As a Lecturer in Engineering, you should:

  • Must hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one
  • Must hold a minimum Level 2-4 in Engineering or related qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Hold a IQA or equivalent
  • Experience of working in an Engineering environment
  • Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of a wide range of students on a range of different programmes
  • Experience of teaching manufacturing engineering to a range of learners

The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
