Be where you matter

Every day, across the planet, people count on Babcock to make their world safe and secure. Join us as an engineering technician at our Devonport site, and you'll have the chance to play your part.

As an international defence company, our technology protects nations and helps communities thrive. Our innovations solve problems quickly and responsibly. And people are safer thanks to our collaborative partnerships and engineering expertise.

The role

As an engineering technician, you'll join us in a role that's out of the ordinary within our T23 Refit Support Group (RSG) team. Day to day, you'll work on vessels, maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, so they're fit for service. It involves regenerating systems and equipment to full operational condition so they're ready for tests and trials. It's a great opportunity to develop new skills while working with stakeholders and keeping them up to speed.

At Babcock, we have a history of helping talent go far. With our track record of innovation, you'll continually develop your knowledge and expertise.

Essential experience

* Qualified electrical or mechanical technician.
* Ability to write clear defect reports and keep maintenance management systems up to date.
* Good engineering and professional standards.
* Agile and adaptable, with a proactive attitude.
* Experience as an RN engineering technician or seaman would be an advantage. However, this is not essential, as long as you have a background in electrical, mechanical or seamanship equipment and system maintenance and repair.
* City and Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

Please note that SC security clearance is required for this role.

What we offer

Generous benefits including:

* Generous holiday allowance of 25 days' plus bank holidays
* Reservists in the armed forces receive 10 days' special paid leave
* Matched contribution pension scheme, up to 8% of salary, with life assurance
* Employee share scheme - save tax and national insurance on shares, with 1 free share per 10 purchased
* Employment development allowance - £125 per year
* Payment of Professional Fees
