What to expect

Based at our principal design and engineering centre in Gaydon (CV35 0RR), offering a hybrid working model, the ESS Test & Validation Engineer is a key member of the Design Validation (DV) team and is responsible for mechanical development, functional performance and durability / reliability sign-off of the BEM component as part of battery unit programme delivery.

The Design Validation Engineer ultimately reports to the Principal Engineer (LL6) for validation but may be allocated to a Module Lead (D) or Technical Lead (D) dependant on project requirements and specific team structure.

You will be principally responsible for delivery of BEM component structural durability, electrical and thermal performance and safety validation testing, ensuring validation test activity is delivered on time, and to the required data quality and delivery standards; ensure tests executed to correct procedures & operating conditions, accurately and produce high quality data and establish, maintain and communicate accurate test plans, that clearly identify the timing and specific requirements of test facilities required.

What you'll need

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experienced in problem-solving (Understanding of methodologies such as Six Sigma, 8D, or DMAIC is desirable, not essential)
  • Has an engineering mindset
  • Experienced in delivering a product from design to release, or have been part of the delivery cycle
