Salary: £35k - £50k per annum DOE

Job type: Full Time - Permanent. (Flexible hours and days)

Danaher & Walsh was established in 1969 by Vera Danaher, the late Daniel Danaher Senior, Thomas and Michael Walsh as a contracting and plant hire business based in Leicester.

The Role/Candidate:

We are looking for an exceptional Estimator to join our team and to bring their high quality and work ethic to our growing company.

About the role: 

• Arrange for Strategy Meetings on large and complex schemes
• Prepare bills of quantities when not provided.
• Obtain tender stage material and subcontract quotations.
• Carry out a site visit, when necessary, to ascertain any special site requirements of a scheme.
• Price each element of the tender, including labour, plant and materials.
• Prepare the "tender logic" programme.
• Review and finalise the tender with the Managing Estimator and/or Commercial Director.
• Attend post contract award meetings (explaining the tender logic) and handover all the relevant information to enable the site team to complete the works.
• Visit the site, post contract award when requested, to assist the Site Agent if required on the alternatives considered to carry out the work.
• Keep up to date with all changes in legislation and reflect these changes within tenders written.

General:

• Assist with achieving Company targets and objectives whenever possible.
• Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
• Ensure compliance with Danaher & Walsh company procedures and policies at all times.
• Any other duties as and when required within the scope of the role.

Experience; 

• Engineering Contracting industry; Minimum 5 years
• Demonstrable experience particularly in Civil Engineering projects
• Commercial and Contractual awareness
• Programming skills/ MS Project
• Experience and knowledge of CDM regulations
• Engineering judgement and problem-solving skills.

Skills & Qualifications; 

• Knowledge of Contracts
• Knowledge and understanding of Methods of Measurement
• An understanding of Highways works
• HND; HNC; Degree in a relevant construction related discipline (Civil

Engineering; Quantity Surveying; or Construction Management

• Member of a recognised professional organisation related to Civil

Engineering

• CSCS card holder
• Valid driver's licence and able to drive

IT Literate minimum: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Project
