What we do?

QinetiQ operates the Shoeburyness Range on behalf of the MoD. It was first used by the military in 1848 when the British School of Gunnery was opened. The area's geographical features make it the ideal location for the MOD's critical military Test and Evaluation requirements and training activities.

The Environmental Test Centre (ETC) based at the Range, is one the UK's largest test facilities for munitions. We use a variety of test equipment including vibration, shock & climatic to simulate some of the challenging environments that the munitions will need to withstand, ensuring that the systems are safe and suitable for service.

The roles involve fixing and maintaining a wide range of equipment, machinery and systems and the positions are therefore challenging, exciting and important.
