WHAT TO EXPECT

This is role sits within Manufacturing Engineering Trim & Final Facilities Development at Halewood, UK.  This role will support Jaguar Land Rover’s global manufacturing strategy and deliver world class facility solutions through product implementation programmes, technology innovation and legacy facility improvement projects. As a Facilities and Development Engineer, you’ll be part of an Engineering team that will project manage the planning and implementation of facility solutions for new model introduction within Final Assembly, developing and maintaining detailed facility timing plans in line with manufacturing launch strategies and plant procurement requirements. You’ll drive Bill Of Process and Design for Manufacturing within the product creation process, and manage product assessment activites during vehicle Virtual Series. 

You will document and manage technical issues using the appropriate problem solving tool set, lead supplier selection with JLR Purchasing and all vendor management activities. You’ll be the key representative for ME Facilities at program reviews at all levels, and will present where applicable. You will be based at Halewood, but must be able to travel, so a flexibale approach is key to this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess feasibility of new facilities and processes, development and management of projects for cost, quality and timing
• Support the area by providing the required capability and capacity at Jaguar Land Rover facilities and supporting equipment, aligned to the programme milestones, launch plans and production requirements
• Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes define robust delivery plans with minimised disruption to operations
• Develop engineering solutions that are suited to the capabilities of appropriate facility and its associated process characteristics as directed
• Develop robust/lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or process/operational efficiency improvements
• Manage, maintain and develop all Health, Safety and Operational Risk Management processes and site specific processes and systems at the area
• Manage Contractors in strict accordance with the JLR Control of Contractors procedures
• Contribute to the on-going Environmental Innovation and Reporting (Energy, Water, Waste) compliance with Jaguar Land Rover standards
 • Co-ordinate the support and input of all relevant stakeholders to achieve acceptance, buy-off and successful handover of new or modified facilities

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• A sound technical engineering and manufacturing background with previous experience in Facilities Development in Engineering
• Proven experience and understanding of facilities processes, equipment and leading technologies
• Experience of reliability and maintainability principals and an understanding of the environmental impacts of engineering solutions
• Thorough understanding and application of ME Procedures and Documentation
• Thorough understanding of Design for Assembly principals and Product Creation and Delivery System (PCDS)
• Presentation skills (preparation and delivery)
• Experience and ability in practical problem avoidance/solving (Six Sigma, 8D, 5Y, FMEA)
• Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred
• Contract management experience
 • Financial Control and Procurement
