Founded in London in 1922, Tecalemit is a market leader in the supply, installation and service of vehicle workshop equipment and is currently looking for a Field Service Engineer or Trainee, to help to further build and strengthen their thriving 'Service' function which works with a range of commercial and non-commercial customers.

Job role:

The role is mobile, principally within Bury St Edmunds and the wider surrounding area and it involves a fluctuating workload, carrying out servicing, (new) installations and the repair of a range of garage equipment including lifts, brake testers and tyre bays.

Whilst experience is preferred, ideally from within the garage equipment industry, Tecalemit welcomes applications from people with good practical experience in any type of electro mechanical work. We are also interested in developing relevant skills for anyone wishing to apply as a 'Trainee'.

Typical backgrounds might include people who have worked as garage technicians, MOT testers white goods installers / engineers, FMCG service technicians, or anyone who has completed a relevant academic qualification in an electrical/mechanical field, and looking to start their career.

Trainee roles still receive a competitive wage but also receive a higher level of training to allow them to develop transferable skills.

Main Duties:

• To carry out all service, repair and installation work to specification and to the highest standard
• Ensure adherence to health and safety policies, company procedures, and ensure that work practices comply with relevant codes of conduct
• Submit paperwork/REA ('remote engineer access') reports to head office on time
• Participation in training as required including technical product training
• Escalate technical queries to line manager as necessary
• Take responsible care for all company property including vehicle, stock and I.T. Equipment

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:

• Relevant technical background, ideally with competence across a range of garage equipment, ideally with recognised qualifications
• Or, basic transferable skills in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
• Basic IT skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to deal with customers and colleagues in a professional manner
• Build and maintain customer relations
• Represent the company in a positive manner at all times
• A "can-do" logical approach
• Valid driving licence
