Salary: £26,000-35,000 Dependent on Experience

Job type: Permanent, Full time. 8am to 4:30 pm

SS Systems are a Fire & Security Company based in South Yorkshire. We install and maintain Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarms, Access Control, CCTV and ancillary systems throughout the country. We are known for specialising in wire free fire alarms. We're a forward-thinking flexible company, who put our staff at the heart of what we do and you'll find a warm welcome when you join our team. Because we're flexible, we expect you to be too and whilst your job will mainly be conducting planned maintenance and corrective repairs to systems, we may need you to help us out with reactive call outs when we're really busy.

The Role:

If you've worked in the industry for a while, you'll know there's no such thing as a typical day but to give you a flavour of how working for us might be, here's what you can generally expect:

• Aside from emergency reactive calls, you'll know on a Thursday what you'll be doing the following week on each of the days, so we expect you to look at the jobs you've been sent and make any arrangements necessary (for instance you might need to make sure you're carrying the correct ladders)
• We expect you to leave your house in good time for your first appointment
• We will let you know via the PDA when the appointment has been booked for and how long we have booked out for the work to be completed.
• When conducting your work onsite we need you to provide a clear report of the work you've undertaken. This report needs to be done in real time.
• Through the day you may receive emails and phone calls from the office. We expect that you'll reply to these within a reasonable timeframe (ideally 24 hours)

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Help to manage & exceed client expectations
• Manage other contractors and junior colleagues on site where appropriate
• Health & Safety of yourself and others
• Where appropriate provide the correct completed certification accurately and on time.
• We are looking for your help in reducing repeated callouts and so will expect you to achieve a first-time fix rate of 90%
• We expect you to be aware of and comply with the BS Standards for servicing of systems.
• Ensure your van stock level is adequate for our customer base and their requirements.
• Use PDA as expected and in real time you will work closely with other members of our engineering and administration team and will report to our Service & Small Works Operations Manager.

The Person and Skills Required:

• Full working knowledge of fire & security systems (including EMS Firecell, Kentec, Advanced, Texicom)
• English & Maths Grade 5 or above.
• Positive outlook.
• Hardworking.
• Cheerful.
• Good clear communication skills.
• Good teamwork.
• Ability to take and act on instructions.
• IT skills (knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Training to be provided:

You will receive the following training in addition to the Apprenticeship Standard:

• In-house training on all company policies and procedures.
• Health & Safety Training.
• On the job practical experience.
